Hi Chris. For 15 years I have been using Q*** to track my share portfolio. Recently I had a problem with downloading share prices which I still believe is an issue with the program. They were unable to offer a solution and suggested in the end to ring their technical hotline @ $5 per minute. I can't work out how you make a living, from selling us your excellent program, for a once only fee, and then we get to use it for years, with you sorting out problems for us, free of charge. You can spend money updating this sort of software from other companies and it doesn't do what it claims to do very well from day one! I must say that I am mightily impressed by the evaluation. Many years ago I bought the M*** program, at the urging, I think, of "The Intelligent Investor", and it took about an hour of helpdesk support to even get it to run. Then the data subscription service failed in installation and I consigned the whole M*** thing to the "FAILED PROGRAM" box and tried to forget it. I have found your in-program "Help" to be particularly valuable. [I.C., 4/1/08]

I have been down the path of IT suppliers not charging enough for their services and out of fear of client reactions not increasing prices - only to see them go broke. I have been hoping to demonstrate your product to a friend of mine who owns a cattle property and now that I can load all my data onto the laptop, I will give him a demo and I know he will buy it on my recommendation. I find your product just what many people need as it is simple for them to use and as for myself in particular, my main use is for tax purposes, the reports being more that sufficient for my accountant. I have over the years recommended your product to many colleagues, friends and associates and I know many have purchased it up and appreciate the fact that that it is not complicated with too many bells and whistles, which tends to be the case with a lot of similar products. There is too much software out there which is over the top in detail and features, most of which the average Joe will never use. I also believe the price of your product is a competitive advantage. I think this is a very good piece of software. Your idea of the software working out and placing actual amounts via the percentage of imputation is excellent. It makes entering dividend information so easy and you can't type in the wrong amout it's all done for you. No spending hours trying to find the error! I've been there done that! ...I'm impressed with Topshare. I've been seeking just such a program as my shares are uncomfortably beyond the Excel spreadsheet stage. I visited many websites and even asked my accountant - the best he offered was to do it for me for an additional $1,200 per year - thanks, but no thanks!!. On trying Topshare my first reaction was "Well, how long has this been going on!" Life could have been so much easier for the recent tax season - and a the one before, and before that.... and so I very much welcome Topshare. I have downloaded the new version and have played around with the various changes. It is a very good program and after a little time is easily used. The change allowing dividend credits to go to different bank a/c's is helpful. The tax reports, as with the previous version are excellent and make life simple for those of us who manage super fund shares. [R.D., 24/10/05]
I've been using Topshare from pretty early days. I had a fairly extemsive portfolio, about 25 Companies at that time, and was very green as regards computer skills; as I am in my 80's. I had some reservations about coping. Anyway I took the plunge with Version 1.2, and set up my portfolio. I found all the operations pretty intuitive, and, with the up-grades that followed, my workload was further reduced. Had lots of fun getting our 2 portfolios imported and then doing the conversions, adjustments, splits etc etc to get the data correct. Also, I was able to import the EOD figures etc - very impressive! It would appear that the platform, functional design and level of support has the capacity to support further development and features. I recently had a query which you answered promptly - thank you for that. I am an MYOB Certified Consultant and a PNA - I have quite a few clients for whom I administer (do the accounting for) their super funds and investments. To date I have managed to use MYOB and Excel, but find this too cumbersome with a large portfolio. .... There is an excellent, Australian software product for portfolio management. Written by Chris Jackson it allows buys, sells, stock splits, holdings reports and taxation reports. Plus dividends, capital returns and a host of other functions. More importantly, Chris Jackson offers incredibly fast and friendly support for the odd time you may need it.
